MUMBAI: According to reliable sources, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) panch witness Kiran P Gosavi has mentioned fake or incorrect residential or contact addresses in the panchnamas signed by him. That too on the same day and in a span of a few hours. It is learnt that Gosavi signed two different sets of panchnamas, for two different sets of accused, within a span of a few hours, and in both he has mentioned different contact addresses.

Kiran Gosavi has been mentioning different contact addresses in different documents signed by him even on the same day. This is very not acceptable in law, besides being vague and surprising as the addresses could be fake, said senior Adv Ayaz Khan, who represents accused Nupur Satija.

NDPS lawyer Ayaz Khan who is appearing for accused Nupur Satija, in the Aryan Khan drugs case has accused, “panch witness Kiran Gosavi of using multiple or different contact/residence addresses.

In the panchnama carried out at 20.30 hrs on 2nd October 2021 of Munmun Dhamecha and Saumya Singh Gosavi mentioned a residence address of Sector 26, Vashi, Navi Mumbai and two hours later in the panchnama of other accused Vikrant Chhokar and Ishmeet Singh Chadha, the residence address mentioned by Gosavi is that of Kolshet Road, Dhokali Naka, Thane West. It is surprising how a panch witness on the same day and same case signs two panchnamas and mentions different residence addresses in both,” questioned  Adv Ayaz Khan. Further since K P Gosavi and Manish Bhanushali were the tippers or informants for this particular drug raid, they should not have been selected as panchas or spot witnesses by the NCB, opined Khan.

In television and print footage seen by the entire country, Gosavai is also seen escorting Aryan Khan to the NCB office. Was Gosavi directing the raid? He was the informer, panch witness and also took custody of a high-profile accused, restrained him and escorted him to the Agency’s office. How did Gosavi get so much power, Khan wondered?

Later on, inside the NCB office, Kiran P Gosavi was also part of the team interrogating the accused and was also prompting the other officers while the paperwork was being typed out. “Can a panch witness assume the role of an investigator, taking part in interrogation of the accused and prompting junior officers who were typing out the witness and accused statements,” Khan wanted to know.
