MUMBAI: In a major lapse or even a case of fraud and forgery, the panch witness of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), who was coincidentally the informant as well in the Aryan Khan arrest case – K P Gosavi, mentioned different contact or residence addresses in different panchnamas signed by him on the same day and within a span of a couple of hours.

According to NDPS lawyer Ayaz Khan who is appearing for accused Nupur Satija, in the Aryan Khan drugs case, “Panch witness Kiran Gosavi has in the panchnama carried out at 20.30 hrs on 2nd October 2021 of Munmun Dhamecha and Saumya Singh mentioned a residence address of Sector 26, Vashi, Navi Mumbai and two hours later in the panchnama of other accused Vikrant Chhokar and Ishmeet Singh Chadha, the residence address mentioned by Gosavi is that of Kolshet Road, Dhokali Naka, Thane West. It is surprising how a panch witness on the same day and same case signs two panchnamas and mentions different residence addresses in both,” questioned  Adv Ayaz Khan. Further since K P Gosavi and Manish Bhanushali were the tippers or informants for this particular drug raid, they should not have been selected as panchas or spot witnesses by the NCB, opined Khan.

In television and print footage seen by the entire country, Gosavai is also seen escorting Aryan Khan to the NCB office. Was Gosavi directing the raid. He was the informer, panch witness and also took custody of a high-profile accused to restrain him and escort him to the Agency’s office. How did Gosavi get so much power, Khan wondered?

Later on, inside the NCB office, K P Gosavi was also part of the team interrogating the accused and was also prompting the other officers while the paperwork was being typed out. “Can a panch witness assume the role of an investigator, taking part in interrogation of the accused,” Khan wanted to know.
