Top politician’s name crops up in Sonali Phogat murder case?
PANAJI: In a new twist to the Sonali Phogat murder mystery, it seems that the name of a top and powerful politician has surfaced during the ongoing investigation by the Goa police. ALSO READ: More than 46 injury marks found on Sonali Phogat’s body
While till now the main masterminds were supposed to be Phogat’s PA Sudhir Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder Singh, with the motive possibly being usurping her property and real estate, new leads obtained during the police interrogation of the two main accused, suggest that both Sangwan and Singh were merely “executors” working for a top politician and the motive was not just taking over her property. There were some deadly secrets that needed to be buried and only the death of Phogat could cover up those secrets – at least that is what the conspirators thought. Meanwhile, speaking to media persons on the murder of BJP leader Sonali Phogat, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Monday said that a confidential report was sent to Manohar Lal Khattar, chief minister of Haryana as well as to the Haryana DGP and the charge sheet would be filed soon. “We’ve sent the confidential report to the Haryana CM. I am satisfied with the investigation done by our police team. Five people have been arrested. Soon the charge sheet will be filed,” the Goa CM told reporters.

On sealing Curlies Beach Shack in Anjuna, where Sonali Phogat partied hours before her death on August 23, the Chief Minister said, “We have been given instructions to seal it. So as per DGP’s instructions, it has been sealed.”

Sonali Phogat, 42, was declared dead at the St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North Goa on August 23. A post-mortem report revealed blunt force injury on her body, following which the Goa Police registered a murder case.

The two accused- Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh – have been arrested and further investigations are on, the Goa Police said.
The Goa Police arrested two more persons – Edwin Nunes and suspected drug peddler Dattprashad Gaonkar – in connection with the murder case of BJP leader Sonali Phogat, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jivba Dalvi said on Saturday. The Police said that the investigation revealed that the drugs were supplied by a person named Dattaprasad Gaonkar who was working as a room boy in Hotel Grand Leoney Resort in Anjuna where the accused persons and the deceased were staying.
