Goa Breaking: Anjuna club Hill Top owner Steve arrested by Hyderabad cops in drug case

PANAJI: The Hyderabad police have arrested the owner of the Vagator-Anjuna-based club and restaurant Hill Top (Hilltop), John Stephen D’Souza aka Steve D’souza aka Steve and one more person in a drug-related case. According to information provided to media persons by the Anjuna police, the Hyderabad cops led by Sreedhar Reddy – Police Inspector (Detection), Osmania University Police Station, Hyderabad City, Telangana State, arrested two persons, John Stephen D’Souza aka Steve, involved and named in CR No 374/2022 u/s 8C, 22(C) and section 27 of the NDPS Act. Tukaram Salgaocar (Salgaonkar) also from Goa is the second person arrested in the case by Hyderabad police, the Anjuna cops said. Both the arrested persons were wanted in drug-related offences filed in Hyderabad after some other accused were arrested earlier. The Anjuna police said that PI Sreedhar Reddy requested the Goa Police for assistance to apprehend the accused person and others including Manzur Ahmed, Vikas Naik, Ramesh Chowhan, Edwin Nunes (owner of Curlies restaurant), Sanja Govekar in CR No 374/2022. The Anjuna police after consultation with senior Goa police officials and the PI of Anjuna Police station deputed Police Constable (PC) with buckle numbers 7668, 6645, Lady Police Constable (LPC) 8585 and Lady Home Guard (LHG) Akshada for the necessary assistance in locating and arresting the accused as per the FIR. The accused will be produced in a Goa court for a transit remand and will be taken to the Osmania University Police Station in Hyderabad where they will be again produced before a local magistrate for remand. The Hyderabad city cops were led by a special anti-drug enforcement cell of the Hyderabad narco police known as Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and the Narcotics Investigation Supervision Wing (NISW). ALSO READ: More than 18 Goan clubs, restaurants on the radar of Hyderabad Narco cops

According to a report by Herald, John Stephen D’souza, the owner of the Hilltop restaurant in Anjuna reported sick during the mandatory medical examination after being arrested was admitted to the District Hospital in Mapusa. The Mapusa JMFC court accordingly adjourned the hearing on the application for a transit remand by the Hyderabad police for Thursday and directed them to file a health status report of the accused, the Herald report said.
