PANAJI: A few years ago, the Moses Bababhai Chudesra-run Coastland Cottages at Anjuna paid Rs 10 lakh upfront to the Goa cops to cover up a drugs bust, a source has revealed.

According to confidential sources, a few years ago, Moses Bababhai Chudesra and his team who was managing the Coastland Cottages at Anjuna was busted by the cops in a drugs raid.

However, a sum of Rs 10 lakh was paid up on the spot to push the entire matter under the carpet and hush up the drug charges, our source said, adding that at the Anjuna Police station only money talks and drugs walk.

Now, after almost 4 years, Chudesra owes the owners of the Coastland Cottages at least Rs 30-40 lakh and is wanted by the Mumbai police in a rape and cheating case.

Chudesra was not available for comment and the Malwani police at Malad in suburban Mumbai – where an FIR is registered against him for rape, criminal intimidation and cheating, said he is untraceable and absconding.

We will update this story if he responds to us.

Not just Coastland Cottages, one more well-known restaurant and a Vagator-based pub were raided at the same time at Vagator-Anjuna and small quantities of drugs were found on the premises.

However, no action was taken and the owners were let off the hook, obviously after a huge sum of money exchanged hands.

There are several other cases filed against Chudesra who also worked with a hotel chain at Nasik. Read the full story here
