PANAJI: The Hyderabad narco cops probing various drug trafficking cases and the role of several accused – both arrested and wanted, have zeroed in on a new face from Goa in the illegal, interstate narcotics network.

According to a police source, Nagoa-Anjuna based history-sheeter and known criminal Tarzan Parsekar – arrested recently by the Goa police for stabbing one Ravi Shirodkar of Calangute over a dispute regarding the rent-a-bike and rent-a-car business in the coastal belt – is also involved with an interstate drugs trafficking gang.

For the last 3-odd years Parsekar has been funding a group of drug peddlers from in Goa, who courier drugs to parts of South India. The peddlers pay him double the principal amount within 3-5 months, police sources said.

He is also a business partner with Manoj Singh, brother of the notorious criminal Gajendra Singh alias Chotu, who was arrested by the Calangute police in the Souza Lobo vandalism case and is still behind bars after his bail application was rejected by the Bombay High court.

Sources said the Hyderabad police may seek custody of Tarzan from the Goa courts for his interrogation in the same case in which Hill Top owner, Steve alias Stephen John D’souza was arrested and Curlies owner Edwin Nunes is wanted and absconding.

According to media reports, Goan youth in the Nagoa-Arpora and Vagator-Anjuna belt idolize Tarzan Parsekar and there is always a crowd present at his house in Nagoa.

Youth consider Tarzan a Bhai or a Don and praise him as he sponsors local football and cricket matches and provides funding for local Ganpati, Narkasur and Diwali functions. The money for these sponsorships comes from the drug business, police claimed.

Tarzan is also involved big time in illegal Dhirios or bullfights and has several cases registered against him for organising the banned dhirios in North Goa.

He has a group of youth known as the Tarzan gang that organise the banned dhirios and also keep a watch on the roads during the dhirio fight to tip off the organisers if police approach the venue.
