MUMBAI: As reported earlier this morning, two bike-borne thieves stole Bollywood actor Priya Soni’s mobile phone, while she was sight-seeing and shopping in the Goa capital of Panaji on Saturday. (Read the full story here)

Now, there is one more update to this story. While Priya immediately de-activated her SIM card, it seems the thieves who stole the mobile were able to unlock the access code of the phone and were further trying to access her Google Pay and Facebook and other payment apps including her phone banking app.

Priya was advised by her friends to change the passwords of all the apps on the phone including her Facebook, Instagram and other banking and payment apps used by her.

Fortunately, she had a second phone and she changed all the passwords within an hour. She even took to Twitter to complain to the Goa cops about the theft and wrote:

The thieves who had gained access to her phone by cracking or deciphering the power-on password, tried to even break their way into her Facebook and other payment app accounts, but they were unsuccessful. They tried to force their way in by changing the password – using the forgot password option but once again they were unsuccessful because the app sent notifications to Priya on her second phone and she was able to block the access or log in attempts from her stolen phone, which was being used by the thieves.

Priya is now worried because her phone had a lot of her personal photos, images and videos and the thieves now had access to all those. She is contemplating filing a police complaint, but finds it useless as she says she will probably never get back her phone again.  Read more here
