Party Ditched Us: Loyalty, Hard Work Doesn’t Pay, Only Money Talks, Say Congress Loyalists?

PANAJI: In what could be disastrous for the Congress in the long run, several long-time party workers and loyalists are extremely upset with the grand-old party and this anger could seriously hamper the party’s future prospects.

And as if speaking for all of them, Vladimir De Monte Furtado of Panaji, one of the most hard-core Congress loyalists from Goa, posted in a WhatsApp today, that seems to speak for all the Congress workers who were dumped by their own party.

Vladimir wrote:

As a hardcore congress activist it pains me immensely to see the massive auction of tickets by 3 – 4 people in the congress party in Goa. (Here is a die-hard Congressman openly alleging that tickets are being auctioned by a few people in the party)

Weak candidates put in at least 30 constituencies who have not worked / hardly worked for the party or recently entered the party.

Less than 5 seats went to actual loyalists.

Torrid times ahead for the Grand Old Party which let Judases decide it’s future.

I appeal to our Goan people to now strategically vote in every seat and choose the best candidate who will actually serve the people and not serve the Mafia out to destroy Goa.

If we check out the rest of Goa, this is what we find: (as per a post doing the rounds on social media)

Benaulim – 5 Congress leaders Edwin Barreto, Royla Fernandes, Gina Pereira, Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco and Trevor Fernandes are upset over the Congress’ decision to allot the Benaulim ticket to new entrant Anthony ‘Tony’ Dias, who joined the party just 48 hours before, against their wishes and without informing the block committee.

Mayem – 35 members of the Mayem Block Congress tendered their resignation on Monday against the party’s decision to allot the seat to their alliace partners by side-lining the likely candidate of Congress leader, Ajay Prabhugaonkar.

Calangute – The entire Congress Calangute block, upset over BJP MLA Michael Lobo and his wife’s induction into the party, quit the party.

Velim – The Congress nominated Velim sarpanch Savio D’Silva, who has several criminal cases against him, over Joe Dias who has been a loyal servant of the Congress for 30+ years and is the party’s South Goa District President and Benjamin Silva.

Porvorim – The Porvorim Congress Block Committee strongly objected to the candidature of Vikas Prabhudessai for the Porvorim constituency and decided not to campaign for him as he is an unknown figure in the Porvorim constituency and has not done any work at the grassroot level.

Valpoi – The Valpoi Congress block committee made a serious allegation against the Congress leadership, alleging they fielded a ‘setting’ candidate in Valpoi in Manisha Usgaonkar. Two months before, when she was approached to become a member, she asked the Congress committee “who is Girish”?Five weeks later, she is given the ticket.
