INDORE: The JMFC court at Indore sent late Tv actor Vaishali Thakkar’s ex-boyfriend Rahul Navlani to jail on Friday, after the magistrate denied permission for further police remand.

On expiry of his second police remand, Rahul was produced in the Magistrate’s court today by the Tejaji Nagar police who argued before the court that the accused was not co-operating with the police in the investigation into Vaishali Thakkar’s suicide matter.

However, Rahul’s lawyers strongly opposed any further police remand, stating that the police had eight days to interrogate him.

They also told the court that the police have taken into their custody all the electronic gadgets including his laptop, three mobile phones and other devices.

On Thursday, the cops took Rahul to his residence and conducted a search and panchnama and seized a laptop which was found at his residence.

His lawyers argued before the court that there was nothing more to be recovered further and that his further custodial interrogation was not required as the accused had already spent 8 days in police custody.

On hearing both sides, the JMFC court sent Rahul to jail or judicial custody on a jail warrant.

It may be noted that Rahul’s wife who is also an accused in the case is absconding and is still not traceable.  The police said they wanted to interrogate both the accused together face to face, but since Disha is not traceable, the court said they could not hold Navlani indefinitely and remanded him to jail also known as magistrate custody.
