MUMBAI: A Magistrate’s court in Mumbai denied the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) further custody of Shah Rukh Khan’s eldest son Aryan Khan and remanded him to judicial or magistrate custody.

“No custodial interrogation is required as sufficient time and opportunity was granted to NCB for investigation. Hence, they (the accused) are remanded to judicial custody,” the court said in its order.

Aryan Khan will be shifted to the Arthur Road jail or may be released on bail today itself if he manages to secure bail and complete the bail formalities.

Aryan Khan, Arbaz Merchant and 6 others were sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the magistrate’s court. The court said the case will now be heard by a special NDPS court.

The magistrate had observed, “The gist is that NCB custody is needed to confront the accused with Achit Kumar. Further, it appears that they also want to confront Abdul Qadir Shaikh with the other accused.”

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Congress accused the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai of allegedly flouting the NDPS Act rules while conducting the raid on the luxury ship Cordelia The Empress on October 2, and demanded action against the agency officials.

Aryan’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde requested the court to allow Aryan Khan and others to be kept at the NCB office tonight.

The court accepted the request. The accused will be kept in the NCB office in judicial custody till tomorrow because the jail would not accept new inmates at this hour without a covid report.
