NEW DELHI: According to reliable sources in the Delhi police involved in the investigation and interrogation of Aftab Poonawalla, the 27-year-old who killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and then cut up her body into 35 pieces, the accused had studied and read up on the Indrani Mukherjee-Sheena Bora case.

Aftab read everything he could lay his hands on concerning the Indrani Mukherjee-Sheena Bora case. He also tried to get hold of articles and bail proceedings on legal and law-related websites to get the maximum possible information about the case, said a police official familiar with the developments.

“Poonawalla showed a great interest in the Indrani Mukherjee-Sheena Bora case. He wanted to read and get hold of all the information he could. He had extensively searched online and checked all the news websites and legal websites for every article and bit of information on the Indrani Mukherjee-Sheena Bora case. He also read about other murder cases and murder trials in the country and studied whatever legal stuff he could find,” a police source said, sharing information about Aftab’s google search history and saved bookmarks and other material.

Meanwhile, another woman Aftab Amin Poonawala dated, after brutally murdering his live-in girlfriend, Shraddha Walkar, in May this year, was a doctor by profession and he met her through the same mobile dating app—Bumble, where he had first met Shraddha, reports said.

The Delhi police have initiated the process to procure a production warrant to ensure that his narco test is conducted at Ambedkar Hospital on Monday, sources stated.

He was sent to judicial or jail custody after a 13-day police remand on Saturday.

Aftab Poonawala allegedly strangled his live-in girlfriend Shraddha Walkar over an argument and cut her body into 35 pieces before dumping them in different places. Police are yet to recover Shraddha’s skull and the weapon used to dismember her body.
