MUMBAI: In a major development that could dent the credibility and integrity of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Aryan Khan drugs case, an advocate for one of the arrested accused Nupur Satija has alleged that the search of women accused, their rooms or cabins and their belongings or baggage on board the cruise ship Cordelia The Empress, was not conducted by NCB officials as is mandatory by law, under provisions of the NDPS Act.

Senior Adv Ayaz Khan, appearing for accused Nupur Satija has alleged that the NCB officials delegated the search of Nupur Satija’s cabin, her person and her baggage to a third party who was not part of the raiding team.

This is not permitted under law, Khan said, adding that the NCB officials present during the raid erred in permitting a third party civilian to conduct the search of the accused in her cabin and that too in the middle of the night.
