Pak-Afghani actress Malisha Heena Khan loses 4 family members in Taliban takeover of Kabul

MUMBAI: Actress Malisha Heena Khan who is of Pakistani-Afghani descent but currently Mumbai-based for the last several years, has lost four members of her family in the violence and fighting at Kabul.

She has 5 to 6 immediate family members, including a younger brother and sister still living in Afghanistan, who are in hiding.

Her uncle, nephew and two cousins were killed in fighting as the Taliban took over Kabul.

Her Uncle was part of the Afghanistan government and worked in the equivalent of what would be the Ministry of Transportation.

As the Taliban fighters pounded Kabul and as the Afghan army deserted their posts, her Uncle’s car in which he was traveling along with some family members, including children, came under heavy Taliban fire, exploding as a result of the firing and all the occupants were killed on the spot, including the driver of the vehicle.

Malisha Heena Khan came into prominence in Bollywood in 2018, when she supported popular Pakistani singer Rabi Pirzada, whose personal nude photos and videos were leaked, after hacking her phone, allegedly by the Pakistani intelligence agency for turning down the overtures of a senior member of the military.

The actress took to her Facebook and Twitter accounts to mourn for her family. She wrote:

Sad news coming in from Afghanistan. My family lost 4 members including my uncle, who worked for the Afghan Govt in the Ministry of Transportation, and two cousins. They were all killed, when the vehicle they were traveling in came under heavy Taliban fire and exploded. We are so lucky to be living in India.
