BHOPAL: The Chennai-based R Suraj Raj Films has signed on Mumbai model and actress Rayya Labib for the Telugu remake of the film Sultan, director Rameshnath Suraj Raj said on Tuesday.

According to Raj the project is inspired by the story of the film “Sultan” and is not exactly a remake. The film will be shot entirely on the outskirts of Bhopal and Indore in Madhya Pradesh as well as in Jaunpur and Lucknow in February-March next year.

Preparations are on and huge sets will be erected near Indore and Jaunpur for the project, which is expected to be in the range of Rs 200 crore, R Suraj Raj Films said in a release.

Local talent will be utilized in a big way and except for the main cast, local actors from Bhopal, Indore and Lucknow will be roped in for the project for roles as extra and junior artistes and the film will provide employment to more than 300 youth from Bhopal and Lucknow for about four months.

However, according to Raj, while Salman Khan played Sultan in the Ali Abbas Zafar film, Rayya Labib will be playing the role of Sultana. The film is likely to go on floors in the next two-three months.

Rayya Labib is presently shooting for a web series for an international OTT in Mumbai.

Speaking to this reporter, Rayya Labib confirmed that she had signed a contract for the project.

“I am glad that R Suraj Raj Films has considered me for their project. It is my proud privilege to be associated with this mega project,” she said.
