Aftab Poonawalla was selling MD and ganja or cannabis, didn’t tell Shraddha Walkar
NEW DELHI: According to sources in the Delhi police team investigating the Shraddha Walkar murder case, the victim’s live in partner, Aftab Amin Poonawalla was possibly peddling drugs like MD and ganja or cannabis without the knowledge of his partner – to make some extra money as well as to meet the needs of his (and her) own recreational consumption.
Aftab along with Shraddha would make trips to places where drugs were available at cheaper rates (like Himachal Pradesh), buy them in larger quantities and sell them to a circle of known contacts in Delhi.

Aftab and Shraddha had travelled to Kullu and Manali and stayed at either Kasol or Manikarna in Manali, where drugs are said to be very cheaply available. In fact, those who smoke marijuana claim that the best “ganja” is available in Manali. The Delhi police will visit the place where the duo stayed as part of the investigation.
It is not known if Shraddha knew about this business that Aftab was running, but she definitely knew that he was addicted to cannabis and used to smoke at least 4-5 ganja-laced cigarettes a day.
She too would occasionally smoke a “doob” or marijuana-rolled cigarette according to her own admission on her social media posts.
According to an India Today report, Aftab told the police that he is addicted to marijuana and on the day of murder on May 18, he was under the influence of weed.
“Every appliance in the apartment where the couple lived in was taken on loan with Shraddha as the primary partner.
Aftab used to make money in the wrong way. Aaftab used to ask for money and in return Shraddha had to ask from her family,” said Godwin Rodriguez, a friend of Shraddha’s in an interview to India Today.
He also alleged in the interview that Aaftab used to consume and sell drugs. He used to make the brownies, store them in a fridge and sell them at night, something that Shraddha Walkar never liked.
Godwin Rodriguez also said that even though they both met on dating app Bumble, he continued to use it and contact women despite being in a live-in relationship with her.
She, claimed the friend, confronted him on the issue and wanted to know why he was still using the app when she had left it and he told people that the duo were married.
