MUMBAI: Chef and gourmet home cook-turned film-maker and script writer Sonya Kaur based in Mumbai has thrashed Colors channel for promoting #Metoo accused Sajid Khan on their popular reality show Bigg Boss season 16.

Sonya said there are thousands of popular artistes in India, but the channel had to choose someone who has been accused of sexual misconduct by not one, but many female artistes, models and actors over the years and who was even banned by a trade association.

Several celebrities like Sona Mohapatra have come forward to speak about the channels choice and voiced their opinion on the subject.

Sona Mohapatra lashed out at ‘Indian TV channels and its executives’ for being a ‘depraved & sad lot’.

Sona wrote on her Twitter handle, “This is #SajidKhan, now on a reality TV show. Then there is #AnuMalik judging a music reality show on TV, for children no less. #KailashKher? Celebrity Judge on TV. ALL called out by many many women in @IndiaMeToo. Indian TV channels, executives are indeed a depraved & sad lot.”

She added, “I’m sure these ‘marketing, creative’ teams will be chuckling ghoulishly for the free publicity, PR their depraved choices are giving them? Some will get promotions like in the case of Indian Idol in the past. Sleep well at night dancing on the graves of your conscience.”

Hundreds of netizens also slammed Sajid Khan and the channel on various social media platforms for selecting and promoting Sajid Khan.

Actors and celebs like Saloni Chopra, Racheal White, Sherlyn Chopra, Simran Suri, Aahana Kumar, journalist Karishma Upadhyaya, Mandana Karimi and others had accused Sajid Khan during the Me Too movement, years ago.
