Trinamool Congress prepares for 2024 battle in Goa: will contest Lok Sabha polls
PANAJI: The Trinamool Congress Goa unit is gearing up to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in a big way, said sources and the party will field “very strong candidates” to take on the competition, a TMC Goa leader was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, TMC National spokesperson Trajano D’mello told media persons in the coastal state that the Goa TMC Joint Convenors Samil Volvoikar and Mariano Rodrigues – of North and South Goa respectively, were the best candidates for the party to contest both North and South Lok Sabha seats in Goa.
While a final decision on the names of the candidates by the party is expected much later, sources said the TMC high command in Kolkata is also considering some senior Goan leaders presently not with the party.
Winnability is an important factor and the candidates who can win will be given preference said a senior party official from Kolkata, hinting that two senior Congress leaders from Goa could join the party in the next 2-3 months.
