“The Dalal of Calangute,” Goa Congress hits out at Michael Lobo

PANAJI: The Goa unit of the Indian National Congress (INC) hit out at Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, who along with his wife and 7 other MLAs jumped from the Congress to the BJP recently.

Calling Lobo “the Dalal of Calangute” for illegally converting and selling orchard lands and fields in the constituency, the Congress said Lobo used the party name and symbol to win the elections.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar speaking to media persons in the state said, if Lobo could get elected on his own with his so-called development work, why did his wife and he contest on a Congress ticket? Why did they not contest as Independents? Why don’t they have the guts to resign and re-contest the polls on a BJP ticket or as Independent candidates,” Patkar asked?

Further hitting out at his former colleague, Patkar said, “He (Lobo) has not only betrayed the people’s mandate but has defied and insulted God. He is under a huge burden of sins. He is frustrated and has no other option but entertain his current political masters.”
