MUMBAI:  Tv actress Jennifer Kirti Singh has demanded the registration of an FIR against the actors and celebs revealing the ID and photographs of the minor victim in the Pearl V Puri case.

Soon after the arrest of Pearl V Puri, his colleagues from the television industry, such as Anita Hassanandani, Krystle D’Souza, Karishma Tanna, Divya Khosla Kumar and Ekta Kapoor defended him. Ekta even mentioned in a note how the survivor’s mother had told her of Pearl’s innocence in the case.

Divya Khosla Kumar mentioned the name of the victim’s mother and tagged her Instagram profile, which bears the photographs of the minor victim. The victim’s mother has also been active on her social media profiles including Instagram, which bear several photographs of the minor victim.

The exchanges were shared by several media houses on the websites and articles, which has made the photographs of the minor rape victim viral, which is a very serious offence, Jennifer Kirti Singh said.

Jennifer took to Twitter and tagged the Mumbai police, Maharashtra police, the National Commission of Women (NCW) and the NHRC (National Human Rights Commission) saying that her tweet may be considered as a formal complaint in the matter.

Speaking to this reporter, Jennifer said, “The celebs are taking the law into their own hands. There is a system and protocol. If they are so concerned for Pearl V Puri and aggrieved by his arrest, let them approach the Bombay High Court in a Writ Petition seeking interim relief of bail and quashing of the FIR. But revealing the photographs and name of the minor victim in a rape and POSCO case is a heinous crime, as heinous as the original crime itself. Jennifer has said that she will move the Bombay High Court against the celebrities who are breaking the law.

“Today they are doing it. Tomorrow a lay man will do the same and cite their examples. They are supposed to be role models for society. They should behave in confirmation with the law, not contrary to it. But they have thrown the law to the wind, behaving as judge and jury themselves,” she wrote.

With regard to the Pearl V Puri rape case, in a startling revelation, Jennifer Kirti Singh stated that everyone on the sets where the dastardly incident took place knew that something was wrong between Pearl V Puri and the minor rape victim’s mother. “Daal mein kuch kala tha, aur woh dikh raha tha,” she said.

Television actor Pearl V Puri was arrested by the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police on Friday last on allegations of raping a minor.

Vasai DCP Sanjay Kumar Patil said that the accusations against Pearl are not false. At a press conference, Patil was asked about Ekta calling the accusations false when he said, “No, the accusations are not false. His name has come up in the investigation. There is evidence against him. That is why police has arrested him. The truth will be decided in the trial.”

Jennifer Kirti Singh claims that the victim’s mother has all along been supporting the accused for her own ulterior motives. “This is very wrong. It is a very serious allegation – the rape or molestation of a minor girl. The industry must not support such wrong doing. The police have done their homework. They very well know that the accused is a powerful person. They will not arrest anyone without reason. The girl’s mother has been shielding the accused because she does not want to loose her daughter in a custody battle with her estranged husband. The accused and the victim’s mother are helping each other, but this is very wrong,” she said, adding that everyone on the set knew that something was amiss when the incident happened.

Jennifer Kirti Singh said the cops have done the right thing. They should not come under any pressure. They must thoroughly investigate the case. All the accused, even the victim’s mother must be booked for shielding a rape accused.

Jennifer also hinted that the victim’s mother and the arrested accused could have had some financial understanding between them. This is just a doubt, but the cops must check out this angle as well, Jennifer Kirti Singh said.

Singh has done several roles in episodic serials like Crime Patrol, CID etc and is a regular face on the Tv circuit in Mumbai. She is also an aspiring singer, model and comedy artiste.

She is currently shooting a webseries for an OTT channel 3XRedHot based on the true story of a young single mother from Bihar whose husband died of Covid last year, about six months after their marriage. The woman realized she was pregnant, a day after her husband passed away.
