Neither Arrested Nor Detained, Only Taken By ED For Recording Statement: Sanjay Raut’s Lawyer

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has neither been arrested or detained, he has been taken to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office to record his statement, Raut’s lawyer clarified to the media on Sunday evening. As reports of Raut being detained and taken to the ED office surfaced, Raut’s lawyer advocate Vikrant Sabne told the media that his client was neither arrested nor detained.

“Raut was served another notice for appearance at the ED office today morning by ED officials who raided his house. As soon as the raid was over, Raut volunteered to go with the ED officials to their office to record his statement,” his lawyer told media persons in Mumbai.

Raut was taken away from his Mumbai home by the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in an alleged land scam case, NDTV reported on Sunday evening.

Towards evening around 5 pm, the Sena MP was taken away by the Enforcement Directorate investigators to their office. A mobile video shot inside the home of the Sena MP just before he was taken away has now emerged, showing Raut hugging his mother.

Raut is seen touching the feet of his mother, who then performs an aarti on his son as he bade farewell before stepping out.

Earlier reports said Raut was detained by the Enforcement Directorate. His lawyer, Vikrant Sabne, however, told news agency ANI that the Sena MP was neither arrested nor detained.
