Thunderstorms, Lightning, Rain In Goa Next 3 Days: Yellow Alert Declared
Panaji: Goa has been put on yellow alert till Friday, as an offshore trough that developed along the east central Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast is headed towards the Maharashtra coast.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa observatory has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in the State till Friday, January 8.
On Monday night, the State received heavy rainfall at several places as a result of the development of a new system.
IMD Goa acting in-charge Shambu Ravindren said the State will receive showers as a result of the trough that developed along the east central Arabian Sea.

He said the trough is passing from Karnataka over the Goa coast and will reach Maharashtra.
Last year, 2020, was the eighth warmest year on record since nation-wide records commenced in 1901. According to IMD-India, last year, the annual mean land surface air temperature averaged over the country was +0.29 degree C above normal.
The statement issued by IMD said 12 out of the 15 warmest years were during the recent 15 years (2006-2020). The past decade (2011-2020) was also the warmest decade on record.
The statement also said India experienced some extreme climate events like extremely heavy rainfall, floods, landslides, thunderstorm, lightning, cold waves which killed hundreds of people.
