Sachin Vaze, Riyaz Kazi tortured by NIA to name politicians, alleges Vaze’s family, friends

MUMBAI: Arrested Mumbai cop Sachin Vaze’s family and friends, including some colleagues from the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU), where he was posted earlier before being shunted out, have alleged that Vaze and police inspector Riyaz Kazi are being tortured by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to name certain top politicians and other senior police officials from the Mumbai police force, in a political tit-for-tat.

Vaze’s family members told IndyaTv.in that the NIA was brought in, not just to crack the case, but to discredit the ruling Shiv Sena dispensation in Maharashtra and throw muck on the Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray‘s face for defending Vaze.

Alluding to the cryptic message posted by Vaze on his WhatsApp Status, they family even alleged that Vaze could be bumped off by certain elements and his custodial death passed off as a suicide by the NIA.

“Vaze and Kazi’s lives are in danger,” his family told this reporter, adding that they have challenged his arrest in the Bombay High Court.

Family members said they will also move the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission challenging the illegal arrest of Vaze and are waiting for their legal team to act in the regard. “It all depends on what happens in the Bombay High Court,” they said.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Sudharma Vaze, brother of Mumbai police officer Sachin Vaze, who was held by the NIA over the recovery of an explosive-laden vehicle near Mukesh Ambani’s residence, on Sunday said the investigators did not inform the family about his arrest and they came to know about it through media.

Sudharma Vaze as quoted by HT also alleged that his brother Sachin is being implicated in the case.

“The family was not told about his (Sachin’s) arrest by the investigators. The family came to know about the arrest through media. The investigators did not contact the family,” he told a regional news channel.

He also said that he had met his brother a couple of days back, who looked tense.

Family members told IndyaTv.in reporters that attempts are being made by certain sections, to drag in the names of Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray, Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh and Jt CP (Crime) Milind Brahambe to get revenge for the arrest of a high-profile scribe, and to settle political scores.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls are a few months away and rival political parties will go to any extent to discredit the Shiv Sena and Maha CM Shri Uddhav Thackeray, said a family member.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the last month’s recovery of the explosives-laden vehicle from near Ambani’s house in south Mumbai, arrested Vaze late night on Saturday after over 12 hours of questioning.

The NIA spokesperson had said said Vaze has been arrested “for his role and involvement in placing explosives- laden vehicle near Carmichael road” on February 25.
