HYDERABAD: The troubles and police cases plaguing the owner of the Curlies restaurant and shack at Anjuna in North Goa Edwin Nunes, arrested by the Hyderabad police in a drug case have further increased as the Telangana police invoked the PD Act (Preventive Detention Act) and set in motion the process to detain him further.
Under the PD Act, a person can be detained on suspicion or to prevent further crimes being committed for a period of upto 3 months without bail. The period can be increased every three months on recommendation of the PD Advisory committee.
The cops set in motion the paper work to detain Nunes under the PD Act and it is likely to be completed within a week, before Nunes can get bail in the case in which he was arrested. They claim that they need time to identify the entire network run by Nunes who allegedly supplied drugs to thousands of clients across the country.
The Telangana police are likely to involve and rope in Edwin Nunes as an accused in various other drug cases, slapping at least 3 more drug-related NDPS cases on him, as according to them Nunes was allegedly the main kingpin supplying drugs to the entire Telangana state through a network of agents, peddlers and couriers numbering over 100 in number.
