Meerut bike thieves arrested, after encounter: Shot in the legs by cops while trying to flee

MEERUT: According to media reports and police updates, the two bike-borne thieves who tried to snatch and steal the earrings of 80-year-old Santoshi Devi have been arrested.

According to the cops, on Saturday, Santosh Devi (80), a resident of Modi Nagar was going to the market with her granddaughter Riya.

They were accosted and attacked by two bike-borne thieves who tried to snatch Satosh Devi’s earrings.

However, the brave girl held the motorcycle with her hand even though she was dragged a short distance and both thieves fell off the vehicle.

In a video, one can see both courageous women trying to overpower the thieves and fighting with them, while shouting for help. Unfortunately nobody helped them and the robbers managed to make a getaway.

Meanwhile, the Meerut Police arrested both the accused. The incident happened in the Lalkurti Police station jurisdiction and action was taken in just six hours after the incident which was caught on CCTV, Meerut police said on Twitter.

During the encounter with the cops, both accused sustained bullet injuries on their legs while trying to escape.

SP Meerut City Piyush Kumar said both the accused have been identified as Sachin and Shivam Soni. Read More Here
