Turkish-Iranian origin Assamese actor Rayya Labib pens note of support for Pakistani actress Mehreen Shah
NEW DELHI: Mumbai-based actor Rayya Labib who is originally of Turkish-Iranian descent, but was born and brought up in Assam has come forward to support Pakistani actress Mehreen Shah in her ordeal and fight against sexual harassment.
According to an ETimes report, through a video on Instagram, Mehreen Shah alleged that she was sexually assaulted by an Indian producer Raj Gupta and a Pakistani director Syed Ehsan Ali Zaidi during the shoot of the film in Baku.
Mehreen said that she was harassed because she refused to comply with their lewd demands. The actress said she ignored everything but decided to speak up as she wanted to alert other actors.
Rayya Labib through an instagram post wrote: @mehreenshahofficial, I understand what you are going through and stand with you through these trying times. I too have been a victim of #metoo predators & know exactly what one goes through. Be strong and be brave..
Rayya Labib was herself a #Metoo victim and had accused a well-known Bollywood director of sexual harassment about ten years ago.
