Taliban Fired Upon Vehicles Carrying Civilians Seeking Shelter in Kabul: Malisha Heena Khan

MUMBAI:  Model and actress Malisha Heena Khan who is of Pakistani-Afghani descent, but currently Mumbai-based for the last several years, spoke to this portal on losing her family members in Taliban firing recently.

Speaking to IndyaTv.in, she said heavily armed Taliban fighters in Kabul last week, indiscriminately fired upon vehicles carrying civilians, fleeing from war zones where intense fighting was witnessed and seeking shelter in safer locales.

She lost four members of her family in the violence and fighting at Kabul. Her uncle, nephew and two cousins were killed in fighting as the Taliban took over Kabul.

“They were firing indiscriminately with machine guns and other heavy weapons and tossing grenades even at civilian vehicles. Those vehicles which slowed down and tried to show the fighters that there were children and women inside were also fired upon. In spite of seeing that there were kids in the car, the Taliban fired on the vehicle, causing the car to explode, killing all the occupants on the spot,” she said.

She has 5 to 6 immediate family members, including a younger brother and sister still living in Afghanistan, who are now in hiding, away from Kabul.

According to Heena-Khan, she managed to speak to a family member who escaped the fighting and managed to make it to a safer locality.  They are scared and hungry. There is no food available and managing with some rations which they managed to save.
