Prashant Kishor’s IPAC does not know the pulse of Goans, TMC a communal party that does not keep its promises: Lavoo Mamledar
PANAJI: Former Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar (also spelt as Lavoo) on Friday resigned from the Trinamool Congress, which he had joined in September this year, terming the party as communal and out to divide Goans.
In his resignation letter addressed to the Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Mamledar has alleged that the company hired by the party to campaign for it – Prashant Kishor-led Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) for the assembly elections does not know pulse of the people.
“They (IPAC) are dictating terms to Goan politicians who have worked in the area for decades. They consider themselves experts in politics, which is not the case,” Mamledar said.
Mamledar, who was earlier in the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), also accused Trinamool Congress of dividing people on religious lines by aligning with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).
Mamledar was promised the Ponda ticket in September when he joined, but with the TMC aligning with MGP, the Ponda seat along with 11 others has been promised to the MGP.
Mamledar had joined the Trinamool Congress in September this year along with former Goa Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro, former Congress spokesperson Yatish Naik and former Goa Congress General Secretary Vijay Pai.
Pai and Naik are also disgruntled with the TMC, say sources, but are hanging on due to their relationship with Faleiro who was made the Rajya Sabha MP. Pai who was in-charge of the Congress House office in Panaji has been reduced to a no-entity in the Goa TMC unit as the party has not declared any Committee for Goa.
Reacting to the development, Trinamool Congress MP Luizinho Faleiro told UNI, the party was on mission and it has a vision for Goa.
Quitting of an individual would not affect party’s prospects, Faleiro stated.
He said it was wrong to say that TMC was controlled by people from West Bengal as those who had joined the party were Goans.
Mamledar said the TMC is a party that does not keep its promises. The IPAC and Prashant Kishor are promising leaders the earth, moon and stars at the time of joining, but then go back on their word as though we are their slaves.
It (TMC) has done it to me, they are doing the same thing in Benaulim and other constituencies, Mamledar told this reporter.
According to Mamledar those who joined the TMC in September and October, like himself and Tony Dias in Benaulim, were promised tickets from their respective constituencies but the TMC leadership has now gone back on their promises.
