Explaining the situation, Priya told this website, “There was a traffic jam on one of the roads and my car was stuck. It was being driven by an AD (assistant director) who was from Mumbai and did not know the roads. I was unconscious in the car and on the back seat as I had fainted due to excessive heat and exertion. But when the cops realized that I had to be rushed to the hospital, they set off on their bike and got our car to follow them. Thanks to those unknown Goa police constables (who were in uniform) that the car reached the local hospital in less than 10 minutes. The constables did not even wait for the car driver to thank them but just waved and rode off. I really thank these anonymous constables for this help,” Priya Soni said on her Twitter account, tagging Goa CM Pramod Sawant, Goa Police DGP and CMO Goa.
As reported earlier, Priya Soni who was shooting in Goa on Thursday, suffered a stroke – caused by insufficient nutrition, exertion and very hot weather and fainted on the sets.
She was shooting outdoors in the Sun at a resort in South Goa, her manager Sujeet Fernandes said. Priya was rushed to a local clinic where she underwent treatment. She was provided nutrition and medicines via an IV drip.
Doctors attending to her said the stroke was caused by major dehydration caused by continuous exertion and hot weather – she was shooting continuously for nearly 6-7 hours without any rest break as her co-actor had to leave for Mumbai on the same day.
Priya left for Mumbai on Saturday evening, but not before thanking the Goa police and the anonymous constables who without any prodding stood up to their call of duty.
