Churchill Alemao’s thugs threaten journos after Warren’s medical camp cancellation story goes viral
BENAULIM: Goons and thugs apparently owing allegiance to former MLA Churchill Alemao and his supporters have been threatening two Margao-based journalists on phone since Sunday morning. These criminally intimidating and abusive tactics started after a news report by this website that claimed that Churchill Alemao was instrumental in stopping a medical camp organised by social worker Warren Alemao from Benaulim went viral.
The report published by this website was authored by a Margao-based freelance journalist who has been receiving crank and abusive phone calls since morning, after the report went viral on social media. The journalist (name withheld) has alleged that Churchill Alemao is behind the abusive and threatening phone calls he has been receiving from unknown WhatsApp numbers since morning.
As reported by this website on Saturday, Churchill Alemao was instrumental in threatening doctors at the Manipal Hospital who had joined hands with Warren Alemao to conduct a medical camp, which would have greatly benefitted the residents and villagers of Benaulim. Angered by the growing popularity of his nephew, Churchill called up senior doctors and management personnel at the Manipal Hospital to call off the camp or face consequences. Churchill claimed he had very good ties with the Goa government and he would see to it that the doctors were sacked if they continued with the medical camp organised by Warren Alemao.
Apparently, Warren Alemao who has organised several camps in Benaulim and other constituencies of South Goa is an upcoming political force and is supporting a secular party that has deep roots in Benaulim. His growing popularity in the constituency is a matter of great concern for Churchill who wants his daughter Valanka Alemao to contest the 2027 Assembly elections from Navelim and is grooming her for the same.
Churchill’s thugs demanded that the news report be taken down or modified to ensure that it did not discredit the former Goa CM and Benaulim MLA. (Read More Here)
