INDORE: Late Tv actress Vaishali Thakkar’s professional friend Priya Soni Monday launched a #Justice4VaishaliThakkar campaign on social media, demanding that the Indore police should apply Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) instead of Section 306 (abetment of suicide) to the FIR.

Speaking to the media in Mumbai, Priya said, “The police have registered an abetment to suicide case against Rahul Navlani and his wife Disha Navlani. However, under section 306 of the IPC, Rahul will be out on bail within two days. He has systematically harassed, tortured and even sexually harassed my late friend and he deserves harsher provisions of the law.”

Priya Soni alleged that the Indore police are going slow on Rahul Navlani as he is a rich businessman. They must have got a big sum of money from him. Navlani has bribed the Indore police. For the last 2.5 years, he and his wife were torturing and mentally harassing Vaishali and justice must be done. He cannot go scot free. He is directly responsible for her death. We cannot allow him to roam around free, while a young, talented actor has lost her life, Priya stated.

According to Priya Soni, who spoke to Vaishali just 10 days earlier, “she was suffering from depression due to the constant harassment by Navlani and his wife. She had attempted suicide earlier. She was distraught due to Rahul’s efforts to destroy her upcoming marriage with the Kenya-based Dr Abhinandan Singh. It was Rahul who informed Singh of Vaishali’s so-called relationship, as a result of which Singh was hesitant to go ahead with the scheduled marriage, creating major problems for Vaishali. Rahul must be tried for murder and not abetment, which is a much milder and lesser charge,” Soni demanded.
