NEW DELHI: India has lifted a nearly two-year Covid-related ban on international flights.

After a two-year long ban, international scheduled flights restarted on Saturday and the air-bubble arrangements are over, the Centre said.

The Indian government lifted the ban at 11.59 pm, March 26.

India had signed bilateral “air bubble arrangements” with around 37 countries under which curtailed flight operations were being carried out since May 2020, the Times of India said in a report.

This should come as good news for tourism-dependent States like Goa, as foreign tourists visiting the state will not be dependent only on Charter flights or special flights.

Most airlines are expected to resume normal, pre-Covid flight schedules in the coming month, Travel consultants said.
