The Human Body is about 60 per cent water.

Water plays a very important role in the human body, besides regulating temperature and helping the system excrete toxins and waste products from the body.

It constantly loses water throughout the day, mostly as urine and sweat but also from regular body functions like breathing when we exhale water vapour. To prevent dehydration, one needs to get plenty of water from drinking and food every day.

There are many different opinions on just how much water you should be drinking every day.

Health experts commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon a day. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember.

However, some experts believe that you need to sip on water constantly throughout the day, even when you’re not thirsty and suggest an healthy adult human being needs 2 to 2.5 liters of water at the minimum everyday.

As with most things, this depends on the individual. Many factors (both internal and external) ultimately affect how much water you need.

The geographical location of the individual also determines how much water you need to drink.

If you are in a place with a warm climate and higher temperatures, you need to consume more water.

During summers, people normally consume more water than in winter. However, in winter it does not mean we don’t need water, people normally make up for the less water consumption by drinking warm fluids like soups, tea, coffee etc.
