New Delhi: Ms Delhi Online winner Nikita Flora Singh has left aside her artificial eyelashes and makeup kit and donned the outfit of a trainee nurse, helping home quarantined Covid patients in Mumbai with basic medical tasks like monitoring their oxygen levels, blood pressure and sugar levels, besides taking care of all their other daily needs and chores.

The 20-year-old Nikita who wanted to be a doctor but could not take up MBBS for various personal and family reasons, managed to do a nursing course, while she also tried her hand at modeling and acting, when she was in Delhi.

She later shifted to Mumbai in January this year and has been shuttling between Mumbai and Delhi since then.

In Mumbai with all film and photo studios shut, she was about to return home to Delhi as lockdown set in. But then her landlady requested her to stay back and help her as she was all alone. Her elderly landlady had a spinster sister who was ailing and home quarantined as she had tested positive for Covid but was asymptomatic.

Nikita who had completed her nurses’ training was able to help as she knew how to handle and take various medical equipment readings. It started from there in the first week of April and now she is helping nearly 8 to 10 patients in the Four Bungalows area of Andheri West, where she lives.

Word has spread around and the 20 something beauty queen aspirant is now doubling up as a nurse in the pandemic that has jolted India, leaving a stupendous trial of suffering and death.
