Brittos at Baga is one of the oldest and most famous beach-side restaurants in Goa, that simply excels in seafood, continental dishes as well as authentic Goan dishes.

A landmark that has weathered the vagaries of the seasons and other upheavals in the state, Brittos stands tall and proud and is owned and managed by Goans.

The chief chef Cajetan Britto – who took over from his father Dominic Britto and his team, will go out of their way to keep their guests happy.

Brittos which started off in 1965 as a small shack with 4-5 tables, now boasts of a seating capacity of over 200 to 250 guests and what makes it so special is the fact that it is right next to the beach on the sand, unlike other fine-dine restaurants in Goa.

One can enjoy the sunset, sipping wine or beer and digging into some mouth-watering Goan spicy sorpotel or vindaloo or even a tantalizing steak with veggies.

The service is superb, in spite of the crowd, the waiters are really helpful and prompt and the prices are not too heavy on your pocket – a perfect combination for a hungry tourist.

Goans who have been patronizing the restaurant for several decades swear by Brittos, which is a must visit for hundreds, if not thousands of foreign tourists who visit Goa year after year. Some of them have been coming to Goa and dining at Brittos regularly for nearly 30 years.

For the first time visitor to Goa, Brittos is the perfect place to start your trip if you want to get a feel of authentic, a bit spicy or tangy Goan food and real Goan hospitality.

Their chicken and crab xacuti is as authentically Goan as you can get in the coastal state and the continental dishes like steaks, butter garlic prawns, grilled fish and several other items are a gourmet’s delight.

The sumptuous seafood platter and the Brittos special fried chicken will keep your taste buds tingling and your tummy asking for more, while the baked crabs are out of this world.

Brittos has karaoke and live music on some days to entertain guests and during the peak tourism season the place also hosts live bands.

Our verdict: we definitely recommend this place and one must visit it at least once when you are in Goa. Don’t forget to ask the waiters for their advice on the catch of the day and other culinary specials.
