PANAJI: In his resignation letter to the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee, former MLA and DySP of Goa Police Lavoo Mamledar said the agency hired by the TMC is only fooling and bluffing Goans and does not know the pulse of the people.

“The company you have hired for your campaign in Goa (I-PAC) is only fooling Goans and they have not understood the pulse of Goa. This clearly indicates that in Goa the Griha Laxmi Scheme is nothing but launched for collection of voter data for elections by the company you have hired as they don’t have any data on the ground,” the letter alleged. TMC’s poll campaign in Goa is run by the I-PAC led by political strategist Prashant Kishor, which has imported more than 10,000 workers from West Bengal for data collection.

The TMC recently announced that the coverage of one of its poll promises, the Griha Laxmi Scheme, under which one woman of each family will receive Rs 5,000 every month, had seen 1 lakh registrations in just 12 days of its launch. The scheme is among TMC’s poll assurances but does not exist in reality and will be functional only if the TMC forms the government in Goa.

Mamledar’s letter said that while the TMC announced a scheme in Goa offering Rs 5000 to one woman in each family, in West Bengal, the TMC-led government gives only Rs 500 to each woman every month under the Laxmi Bhandar scheme.

“When the AITC government has failed to uplift women in West Bengal, we don’t think it would do any good for our Goan mothers and sisters,” Mamledar said.

According to Mamledar, when the TMC aligned with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) a pro-Hindu voter-bank party, it was for dividing Goans on the basis of religion.
