Goan graduates and post-grads are ‘desperate for govt jobs, ready to work as junior clerks or even lower’: Sawant
PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant was quoted by news agency IANS as saying, “Youth only look for Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC) posts, despite being Graduates and PGs. If posts are not available, then they even settle for posts below it. I will refrain from spelling out the reasons as later, I will be criticized for it.”
According to Sawant, Goan youth are so desperate for government jobs that even post-graduates are ready to work as junior clerks or even at lower posts. He said such a mentally must change immediately and Goan youth must aim much higher and qualify for competitive private sector jobs.
“Such a mindset needs to be changed. For this, we need to bring change in all areas, specially in the IT sector and also in mindsets. We all need to come together and work,” Sawant was quoted by IANS as saying.
According to Sawant, teachers could play a major role and counsel the students in the right direction.
“Compared to parents you can have a greater impact. You can convince them better than parents. It is your responsibility (to show the right way to students),” Sawant said while addressing the teachers.
He derided Goan youth saying they only look for government jobs and are ready to go to any extent to get a government job even at the lowest rung, or at the bottom of the ladder.
