Goa TMC leader Seby Menezes abused, humiliated and thrashed by Goa cops

PANAJI: A local leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party, Seby (Socorro) Menezes, who hails from Ribandar village, about 9 kms from the capital Panaji, has alleged that he was abused, beaten and even kicked by the Panjim police, after being detained by the cops two days ago.

Menezes who was picked up and detained by the police under Section 151 IPC, while supporting an agitation by the TMC cadre outside the Chief Minister’s residence at Altinho in Panjim, was taken to the Panjim police station where he was detained for several hours.

According to Menezes, who spoke to this reporter, when he requested the cops to allow him to use the toilet, one cop roughly held his neck and shoved him into the toilet, holding him by his neck, where he was forced to urinate as he is diabetic.

He was kicked on his stomach by the cops who kept on abusing him using very filthy language.

Menezes also said that one constable kicked a female anganwadi worker in the stomach, while another woman was subjected to vulgar abusive language and pushed around by another male constable.

Menezes alleged the cops abused him using very filthy language and they threatened to castrate him by cutting off his genitals if he opened his mouth at the police station.

He was later released on furnishing a PR bond.

Menezes said he would approach the Goa State Human Right Commission against the inhuman treatment meted out to him while protesting peacefully.
