Goa: Talks between MGP and AAP fail, both parties to go their own way in 2022 Assembly polls
PANAJI: While the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were considering an alliance for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections in 2022, sources said that the talks between the two parties have completely failed as there are irreconcilable differences between the two parties and it will not be possible for them to align together.
One of the main differences between the two parties was caused due to the Shiroda seat.
While former minister Mahadev Naik who recently joined the AAP wants to contest the polls and is not ready to back off, MGP candidate Abhay Prabhu is also a strong candidate in the constituency.
During the by-polls in 2019, Prabhu backed off as his boss and MGP party president Deepak Dhavalikar wanted to contest from the Shiroda constituency with a view to teach BJP leader “Subhash Shirodkar” a lesson.
There were several other differences which could not be resolved and it seems at least in 2022 the AAP and the MGP will not be joining hands.
