MAPUSA: Goan activist Shreha Dhargalkar on Saturday embarked on an initiative to feed hundreds of beggars and street kids in various part of Goa, right from the Northern district of Pernem to the Southern Canacona.

Speaking to website, Shreha said, she is making attempts to feed as many beggars and underprivileged kids in various parts of Goa on a daily basis.

“We have a group of volunteers, but mostly, I end up doing everything on my own as the other volunteers are busy with their daily jobs and are only able to join us on weekends. However, it is a worthy cause and it helps me to feel better,” Shreha said.

Even during the peak of the Covid pandemic, when many underprivileged migrants found it difficult to get food grain and groceries, Shreha made arrangements to distribute rice, wheat, pulses and vegetables free of cost in various parts of Goa.

Her social work has been recognized and awarded by several national NGOs and organisations and she was felicitated by the India International Excellence Awards jury for her contribution to the social sector in Goa.
