TMC will do anything to win, even give tickets to murderers and gambling operators: Darshana Saxena
PANAJI: A social worker and tribal activist Darshana Saxena, commenting on the recent induction of former Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar into the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) party, said the party is not getting good candidates and is so desperate to contest the upcoming polls in Goa in 2022, that it has stooped to the level of giving tickets to murderers and makta (gambling) operators.
Speaking to reporters in Mapusa today, Saxena said Kandolkar was accused in 2013 of the heinous and murderous attack on his own party MLA, the late Vishnu Wagh, when nearly 100 persons armed with deadly weapons had attacked Wagh and his driver, completely damaging his official govt vehicle near Mapusa, merely for attending a cultural and religious program organised by an MLA from a different party.
Wagh an MLA, had attended a kirtan singing event, which was an annual event, when his official vehicle was attacked by Kandolkar’s supporters with deadly weapons on his way back to his residence.
In another murder case Kandolkar was convicted of murder and conspiracy by the trial Sessions court, but managed to get an aquittal from the High Court later, on technical grounds by bribing his way through, Saxena informed.
Over the years, he was raided several times by the Goa Crime Branch for his involvement in matka gambling activities and several of his associates arrested by the police. Kandolkar managed to get away by bribing his way through, besides using his political connections to evade arrest.
If the TMC gives such a history sheeter a ticket to contest the elections, it would be a clear indication of its intention to win elections even at the cost of promoting murderers, criminals and gambling agents, Saxena said. Read More Here
