Rain, thunderstorms likely in parts of North and South Goa this week

PANAJI: Squally weather, thunderstorms, isolated rain and windy weather is expected in parts of North and South Goa over the next few days, the Met department has said.

Isolated rains across the State are expected over the weekend and during the next week during next weekend.

The weatherman in a forecast for Goa and parts of South India has informed that on Saturday, a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) will be observed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea before moving north-northeastward and intensifying in the next few days.

The LPA is forecast to be over the north Andaman Sea and intensify into a Depression on Sunday, according to private weather forecaster Skymet Weather.

The system may then shift over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm by Monday.

The LPA is likely to make landfall around the Myanmar coast and then weaken on Tuesday.

Under the influence of this system, widespread rains, thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from Saturday to Monday.

Heavy to very heavy rains are forecast over isolated places of Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Saturday. Heavy to extremely heavy rain is likely over isolated places of Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Sunday. Heavy rain is likely over isolated places of the Andaman Islands on Monday the forecast said.

Another cyclonic circulation will persist over Southern India and bring isolated to scattered showers across south Southern India in this period.
