We have learnt that the Hyderabad police Narco unit has sent dummy tourists (cops in disguise of tourists) over the last two months to these venues to engage with the owners, staff and peddlers and identify and secretly record their activities and some more arrests could be made in the coming months as more evidence becomes available. Earlier too, arrested accused persons had mentioned the names, but the maximum information was gleaned from Borkar aka Khali aka Babu who had complete knowledge of the drug trade in Goa. He was earlier arrested by the Anjuna police and also by the Panaji cops on drug charges, but managed to get bail and continued with the inter-state drug trade, procuring drugs from Goan bigwigs and supplying it to consumers in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Names of several restaurant and club owners have cropped up. Some of these names are being circulated and mentioned on social media. We have refrained from speculating or mentioning any names, even though we have specific information of the properties and venues under surveillance of the Hyderabad narco cops as we do not want to hamper an on-going crime investigation and tip off the alleged culprits and drug peddlers.
