Goa Nowcast: Thunderstorm, Lightning, Rain Alert For Tuesday

PANAJI: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Panaji Office has issued a NOWCAST ALERT for Goa at 13.00 HRS.

Accordingly, a Yellow Alert is issued for most or almost all of Goa including North and South talukas.

The IMD said light to moderate thunderstorms are likely in both North and South Goa over the next 3 to 4 hours, which can extend till late evening. Light to moderate rainfall spells are expected, accompanied by thunder and lightning. In some isolated areas the rainfall spells could be quite heavy.

Residents are expected not to take shelter under trees or sheds or in open areas during lightning as it could be dangerous.

Rain, thunderstorms and lightning are expected at various places on Tuesday afternoon and evening, till late evening and residents are instructed to take appropriate precautions.

The IMD said at 13.10 hrs (1.10 pm.)thunderstorm clouds are seen over the talukas of Canacona, Sanguem, Quepem, Sanvordem, etc., and are moving in a westward direction.

Rainfall activity is likely to continue in Goa till next week, due to various atmospheric conditions that are bringing in moisture from the sea. Read More Here
