PANAJI: Even as the Goa Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, accused of an alleged sex scandal by the Congress, resigned late on Wednesday evening, it is learnt that one more victim from the same constituency where the Minister hails from has approached the local police with a molestation complaint.

As of Thursday early morning, no FIR was registered, but sources said the police are looking into the matter and verifying details.

According to an official statement issued late on Wednesday evening, the Chief Ministers Office said: “Milind Naik has tendered his resignation as Minister in the government of Goa, to ensure a free and fair probe, which has been accepted and sent to the Honble Governor.”

Naik, who was accused by Congress leader Girish Chodankar of threatening and sexually exploiting a woman who originally hails from Bihar, submitted his resignation hours after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant returned to Goa from a three-day visit to Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chodankar while addressing a press conference in Panaji accused Naik of being involved in an alleged scandal involving a woman from Bihar, dating back to around 2019. He also released some “proof” including printouts of WhatsApp chats.

Hours after Chodankar’s press conference, Congress vice president Sankalp Amonkar spoke to the media and released videos purported to be of Milind Naik, along with WhatsApp chats and audio recordings from 2015 to 2016 when the womwn was living in Goa.

Referring to an FIR registered against him and 4-5 others by the victim woman who had turned hostile recently, Amonkar said he would not apply for Anticipatory Bail as he had done no wrong.
