Curtorkars upset with Moreno Rebello’s “dirty tricks” prior to Panchayat Polls
MARGAO: Several residents of Curtorim – sometimes known as the “Granary of Salcette” due to its history of rice production – and mostly those from the farming community are upset and angry with ex-ZP candidate-turned Congress leader Moreno Rebello’s ‘dirty tricks’ and politricks in the constituency.
According to many Curtorkars, last year in December Rebello approached them asking them to vote for a particular political party. Then he suddenly switched sides within 20 days and his entire dialogue and narrative changed. Now he is speaking a totally different language. He does not know which side he is on. What we want is development, good roads, uninterrupted electricity and other civic amenities. Rebello is only into dirty politics and he himself does not know where he is going, said a senior citizen from Curtorim.
Another Curtorkar blasted Moreno Rebello for his fence-sitting. He has one foot in the Congress and another in the BJP. This is not a good thing. If he gets a BJP ticket he will campaign for the BJP, or else he will chase the Congress ticket. He must come clean and tell us which party he is supporting. Presently, he claims to be with the Congress, but is also secretly dining with the BJP. Rebello is a snake in the grass, who should never be trusted, alleged yet another 75-year-old Curtorkar who comes from a family of academics.
Meanwhile the former Curtorim Sarpanch Milagres Rodrigues accompanied by Curtorim deputy Sarpanch Simon Barretto filed his nomination papers on Tuesday at the office of the Returning Officer.
Looks like the political pot is already boiling in Curtorim!
