PANAJI: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) or TMC, is seeking an alliance with like-minded parties in Goa, for the Assembly polls to be held in February next year.

While TMC leader Luizinho Faleiro on his return to Goa from Kolkata, after joining the AITC said that the party would fight the polls alone and was not looking at an alliance, senior TMC sources in Kolkata at the party headquarters said the TMC is open to an alliance in Goa.

The TMC high command has mandated election consultant Prashant Kishor’s IPAC agency to identify prospective candidates who could join the newly setup TMC unit in the coastal state.

“We need the support of like-minded parties in Goa. We cannot go all alone if we have to throw the BJP out of Goa lock, stock and barrel. There are only 4 months left. We will approach like-minded parties like the NCP (Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party), the Shiv Sena and the MGP for an alliance prior to the polls,” the senior TMC leader said.
