Luizinho Faleiro to join Tirnamool Congress Party, wants to contest from Navelim in 2022?

PANAJI: Senior Congress leader and former Goa CM Luizinho Faleiro has been offered a Rajya Sabha ticket by the Mamta Banerjee-headed Tirnamool Congress party (TMC).

However, it is not known if Faleiro has accepted the offer but talks are at an advanced stage and sources said Faleiro is most likely to walk over to the TMC in November this year, immediately after Diwali.

The Tirnamool Congress party has approached several senior politicians in Goa including former Calangute MLA Agenlo Fernandes, Congress leader Joseph Sequiera, sitting MLA Francisco Silveira from St Andre, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and many others.

Sources and local media reports claim, Faleiro has demanded two Rajya Sabha tickets one for a businessman buddy from Goa.

Luizinho is keen on contesting from the Navelim constituency in 2022, while the TMC has promised him a Rajya Sabha seat, which would become available soon in lieu of joining the party.

Faleiro has denied the reports, stating that though he was approached by the TMC, he is very much with the Congress as of now.
