PANAJI: Reliable sources close to All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) leaders working in Goa claim that former Goa CM and senior Congress leader Luizinho Faleiro will be the TMC’s CM face for 2022.

Faleiro will address a press conference on Monday evening at a starred hotel in Panaji. Sources said he is likely to announce his resignation from the primary membership of the Congress party during the press conference on Monday. However, attempts to contact Faleiro were futile and he did not respond to our phone calls. Other Congress leaders including a former MLA are also expected to resign along with Faleiro it is learnt.

TMC leaders including Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien stated the party is in talks with political leaders from not only the Congress, but also the BJP, social activists, regional parties and members of civil society.

However, Faleiro is the biggest name that has cropped up so far. And Faleiro brings with him an experience of great value to the TMC, as he was the Congress in-charge of the North-Eastern states for a long time.

Sources claimed that the TMC has offered Faleiro a Rajya Sabha seat next year, but the senior Goan politician is more keen on contesting from Navelim his home constituency.

The TMC is in the process of setting up a Goa office and will officially announce its plans for Goa in October. The TMC will inaugurate its Goa office on Dussehra, which is on 15th October.

While sources claim the TMC is planning to contest polls in all 40 constituencies of Goa, a practical situation is around 12 to 15 seats.
