Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco Can Ensure Massive Cong Victory At Polls: Must Be Given More Power, Freedom To Decide Candidates: Survey
MARGAO: A survey conducted in South Goa by a social forum – Goa People’s Forum (GPF) has found that Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco if handed over the reins of the Congress party – at least in South Goa, can lead the oldest political party in India to a massive victory – at least in South Goa, winning in almost all the constituencies, barring one or two.
The survey was conducted among residents of eight constituencies in South Goa – Cuncolim, Benaulim, Shiroda, Margao, Nuvem, Navelim, Fatorda and his own constituency Curtorim, from where Lourenco hails.
Three questions were asked to the respondents – first: who is the most respected and loved Congress leader in South Goa? second: which Congress leader in South Goa can convince the electorate? third: which Congress leader is trusted by the people?
Five options were given to the respondents: Digambar Kamat, Girish Chodankar, Francisco Sardinha, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco and Mickky Pacheco. Almost 95 percent of the respondents chose Lourenco, followed by Sardinha, Kamat, Chodankar and Pacheco.
About 1200 respondents were surveyed in all over a week in the eight constituencies, said Espy Costa, co-convener of the GPF.
Lourenco is respected as the loyal, non-corrupt and hard-working face of the party and someone who would not jump ship even if offered the CM’s post, respondents opined.
