Shreha Dhargalkar: Centre will ‘freeze’ Goa Mhadei water issue after Karnataka elections, maintain ‘status quo’
PANAJI: Speaking to news persons in Goa, activist Shreha Dhargalkar said Goans should not be worried about the Mhadei river water issue.
“This is just a political or election gimmick. The BJP in Delhi will not allow Goa to slip out of their hands. Once the elections in Karnataka are over the Centre will revert back to square one and maintain earlier ‘status quo’ at least till June 2024. They cannot afford to lose Goa. Goa as a political territory is very important and dear to the BJP. Goans should not be worried. Every Tom, Dick and Harry in Goa wants to derive political mileage and use the Mhadei issue to launch new political careers for 2027. Just relax. We will not lose a single drop of water from Mhadei,” she said.
“To that extent Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant is right. They have to placate the Karnataka voters so statements about Mhadei are flying all over the place. But as the CM said, we will not lose Mhadei,” Shreha claimed, adding that the drama will continue till May this year and after that everyone will forget about the Mhadei issue.
